I felt it was more personal that way, it cost less up front, and I was able to select an urn of my choice (after the fact in my case), rather than getting the generic, expensive one that came with my local vet's arrangement. (check Amazon for urns, or elsewhere online)

Always professional and courteous. We have taken two of our beloved pets to this business and we're always met with genuine sympathy and compassion. A man helped us with our pet onto a cart (she was a big Lab mix) and allowed us to spend a little more time with her to say goodbye. He explained each step of the paperwork without being pushy or inconsiderate. I highly suggest this business.
I had to say goodbye to a beloved animal friend recently, who passed away at home. I decided to take him directly to the crematory, rather than using the vet as an intermediary.
They cremated one of my cats and a few years later, my mother's cat. In both instances they were professional and caring. I would recommend them to anyone.
